Lola
Finding a home for Lola has just become a matter of life or death.
The affectionate four year old moggie weighs in at over seven
kilograms, at least three to four kilograms above the ideal weight
for a cat her age. Now prone to diabetes, she is desperately in
need of a loving home and an owner who can watch her diet closely
and help her shed the pounds she needs to, before it’s too
late.
At just eight months old, Lola and her five one-week-old kittens
ended up on “death row” in 2006 after being dumped
in a drain, left to die.
Luckily, Lola and her kits each found homes after being nursed
back to health at Ingrid’s Haven. Lola, however, was recently
returned to the Haven after her young owner suffered an unexpected
stroke and was moved into a nursing home. Without the stability
and routine a proper home can provide, it was proving harder to
control what, when and how much Lola ate daily.
Lola went away to her new home a slim juvenile, even after raising
four kittens, but came back incredibly plump and with a very hearty
appetite.
It's been a challenge to keep that extra eye on Lola. I currently
have over 100 cats desperately needing homes and all my pens are
full, so it’s been difficult to keep Lola separated from
the other cats’ food.
Lola’s eating habits are monitored and she is taken to the
vet for regular weight and health checks, but the best thing for
the friendly a forever home where a new diet and exercise are
a priority. Lola is very sweet, loving and easy going. After an
eventful and difficult few years, she deserves a stable and caring
home.

Alice
Alice is a bossy boots in her senior years. She is not the healthiest
cat right now, suffered from a heavy worm and flea burden and
a touch of cat flu. All this is easily fixed, finding a home for
her will be far harder but miracles can happen and they do every
now and then.
|
 |
Jane
Jane is a semi long haired tabby, only young. Jane arrived with
three daughters and she was an out standing mother. Kittens are
safely homed and Jane desperately wants someone that will love
her and cuddle her for the next, hopefully, twenty years, this
girl loves cuddling. Jane was abandoned when she had the kittens,
her owner was not prepared to pay for her de-sexing and she was
handed in to a local clinic to be destroyed along with the babies.

Uma
Uma arrived last summer with five little kittens that have all
found homes. Uma herself is very timid and no pressure is put
upon her, if she wants to be a lap cat she can be if she doesn’t
she can call the Haven her home but miracles do happen, Sunlight
found himself a home so who knows. Uma accepts a pat but that
is as far as she wants to take it, she has got boundaries this
little cat.

Eddie
Eddie, a young boy in black/white, he is so sweet and note his
three black spots on the nose. Life hasn’t been all that
kind to Ede but a new leaf has been turned and he is ready to
grab it with all four paws.

Ellen, very attractive tabby girl with a sweet disposition, she

very special.

Anne-Marie
Anne Marie, sister to Edie, is a beautiful young girl. The siblings
don’t need to go together but they do offer themselves as
a pair. Anne Marie will be shy when you first meet her but she
can purr, this one.

Ian in memory of Birdie. |

Lara
Lara is a few years old, a little bit timid but all she needs
is a home where her confidence can blossom. She doesn’t
come from the most caring home, having been allowed to breed a
few summers but these days are over and Lara deserves a home where
she is loved, taken care of and forever.
| Lara
is proudly sponsored by Kelly, Nick, Kayden
and cats Carrot and Big Daddy.

Julia
Julia has finished her stint as ‘the mother of the year’.
She is very young herself and is so very affectionate. Julia is
fine with the Haven dogs and great with kids.
|
 |
Jenna
Jenna, very pretty but scared of people. Jenna will let you pat
her but is in no mood yet to be picked up and reassured that humans
can be nice, she simply hasn’t had much experience of kindness.
Jenna will come along with lots of TLC and I have a good feeling
about this little girl once she starts to believe that life can
be good. I think though she will be best in a quiet household
with not too many people.

Evelina
Evelina arrived as a mother of three; all the kittens have homes,
and now it is mum’s turn. This cat is very sweet, only young
and seems to get along with most species. Her dream was to fill
the world with kittens, something I sadly had to put an end to
as she did raise her babies to be outstanding members of society
but far too many kittens are born every year only to be killed.
Sorry Evelina.

Trim and former Havenite Jessica/Molly.

Amalia
Amalia was due for the green dream because her owner couldn’t
be bothered to take her with her when she moved. The cat is only
a few years old so why should she have to die because she was
taken in on a whim as a kitten? Cats can easily live to 18–20
years old and they are meant to be forever. Amalia is one nice
cat, easy going and cuddly once she has made sure the human is
trustworthy.

Russell
Russell is a handsome cat in grey, he can be a bit dominant and
I don’t think he is for kids but still a cuddle pot with
the right owner. He will let you know when he has had enough,
easy to read his body language.
|
 |
Larry
Larry is a juvenile still with energy for two; he is lots of fun,
loves cuddles, loves his food and couldn’t care less about
dogs, horses and sheep. Perfect little farm boy who can and will
adapt to town living with a fun loving owner for the next 15-20
years.

is proudly sponsored by Belinda Stephens,
in memory her cats Muppet and Woody.

Brumby
Brumby named so because he talks a lot and I can’t understand
half of it. Brumby has a few years on him but is full of affection
and would prefer to be the only cat in his new home. A kitten
later on will be OK but no adult cats please.

Moshe
Moshe lost her eye due to a burst ulcer. She is under a year old,
very affectionate and comes in all tabby, be prepared for cuddling
times with this Casanovette.

Andrew
Andrew arrived sick and hungry, life wasn’t worth living.
Now this young man has perked up, found that he has a dry warm
bed, food 24/7, cuddles as often as possible and after many, many
days a little purr emerged and it has grown in volume ever since.
Andrew was indeed sick and as he took longer than normal to respond
to treatment I tested him for feline aids and unfortunately he
is positive. This is by no means a death sentence, not at the
Haven anyway, and Andrew has now joined the other aids cats after
having been isolated ever since he arrived from the pound. I urge
everyone to read up on feline aids, these cats can live long,
happy, normal lives but MUST be kept inside so as not to spread
the virus, it can not spread to humans.

Ruthie
Ruthie a senior cat lady found herself without a home just when
the cold weather started, all traces of ownership destroyed. This
cat is so sweet but she needs to be an only cat. Ruthie is in
very good health and will be a good lap warmer.

Sandra, a young female which has now with some help homed all
her kittens, is looking for that special home. Sandra is very
eager for cuddles and she is fine with dogs. Care should be taken
with her white nose.

Amos
Amos in smoky black seems to be a loner and down in the dumps.
He loves being cuddled but I have to seek him out as if he thinks
life is not worth living any longer. My heart goes out to this
big, handsome boy whose only salvation seems to be for someone
to claim him as their very own and smother him in love and affection.

Dave
Dave is a middle-aged cat and he absolutely hates other cats.
Who wants the most affectionate guy to share your life with, human
to cat, he will adore you. Because he carries on so much I had
him aids tested and he is negative. Now all he wants in life is
a mum or a dad or both but on his terms.

Hannibal
Hannibal is a young male, very attractive and affectionate, note
the tabby in him. Hannibal is a little bit out of his depth being
surrounded by so many cats but has settled in nicely and never
says no to a cuddle.

Paulette
Paulette, juvenile, is brimming with health but then again she
was brought up by both her mother and her aunt, Paula & Pauline.
Paulette might be a bit shy at first but she has a loud purr and
will be a very faithful companion.

Phoebe
Phoebe is a young female with a short tail. Phoebe is affectionate
and she is pretty but can’t understand what she is doing
in a shelter. She always believed her owners loved her as she
loved them but they were humans and humans dump their pets when
inconvenient. Phoebe will never be abandoned again.

Mary
Lou
Mary Lou is a young cat under a year old. She has been living
rough, begging and stealing food in her neighbourhood and it was
only a matter of time before this girl would have found herself
pregnant and homeless. Things have changed for the better for
Mary Lou and at least she now has food and a warn bed. I don’t
think Mary Lou will be suitable for children.

Jodie
Jodie is a senior lady that found herself alone and starving after
having been abandoned. Jodie asked a young o/s girl for help and
got it and Jodie can now look forward to someone to come and snatch
her up before the winter chill sets in. Jodie is a very, very
nice cat with a healthy body weight and a good appetite.

Philippa
Philippa, young female, is calling out for a home; her babies
are placed and now it is mum’s turn. Philippa is outgoing
and very friendly, she is one beautiful cat. She will grace any
living room, lounging on the sofa snug and warm.

Henrietta
Henrietta is a tabby of some years, around four-five I think.
She cannot go with other cats although she puts up with them here
as she has no choice. She is super affectionate.

Pamela
Pamela is another youngster, she has reared four kittens under
a tree where she sought refuge but she picked her tree well as
the owner of the tree took pity on Pamela, homed the kittens for
her and now Pamela is looking for a forever home, a home is something
she has a distant memory of and I would dearly love someone to
jog that memory. This time there is no need to turf her out because
she is pregnant and needs help, Pamela is spayed and will be a
lovely companion to a decent person.

Arla
Arla is a senior cat with not too many teeth as this cat unfortunately
has got aids. Arla was kept with a known aids cat and will now
have to pay for her former owner's neglect spending the rest
of her life as a shelter cat as I have never ever come across
anyone who would be willing to take on an aids cat. They are
no different from other cats but need to be kept inside and
extra care should be taken with their food, vaccinations etc.
There is loads of info on the net if anyone should care to learn
more about these most unfortunate cats.
| Arla
is proudly sponsored by by Prudence, and her dogs Dougal
and Robert. |

Agnes
Agnes is a very, very timid senior cat. She has been with me for
a long time but few have ever seen her as she tends to hide when
a stranger approaches. Still she knows her name, she loves her
food and occasionally she will let me cuddle her.

Miles
Miles is a big muscular cat which has lived most of his life on
the streets and when he arrived he was covered in abscesses, fleas,
old scars, you name it and, of course, having lived like this
he is FIV +. Still Miles is very affectionate, loves stroking
and loves his fresh meat. FIV+ cats cannot spread their aids to
humans but to other cats only by fighting mainly. Miles will have
to live as an indoor cat but still has many good years left in
him. Some care needs to be taken in terms of his food, it is very
important he is kept wormed, flea free and vaccinated to be kept
healhty and for the FIV not to develop.

proudly sponsored by Claire
Smith, cats Poppet, Morris, Zach & Myfanwy from WA.

Qattasa
Tousa – it means girl in Maltese – is about five or
six years old. This cat has a dislocated jaw and seems to have
some trauma to her lower back suggesting she has been hit by a
car or thrown out of one. Qattasa’s jaw has been wired,
she has had professional grooming, she eats like a horse but she
is not a cat that will sit on your lap, kneading and purring all
day long. She is affectionate in her own way. Likes company and
talks and likes to be patted but is best left on the ground. All
this said, she is not for kids, she shouldn’t have to compete
with other pets but she is very well worth loving on her own terms
and she badly needs a human she can trust. Qattasa has learnt
to trust me and I feel very honoured.
